ConArtist Cosplay is
our March
CosVisionary
Tell us
a little about your cosplay life, and what it means to you?
Luck in Spades:
For me, cosplay has been just another creative outlet. I find a deep sense of satisfaction from being able to create these costumes, and I only wish that I had the money to be able to make more costumes, and make them bigger and better. I also feel a great pride about being able to say that I make so much of this myself, or with help from Rem only. It (Cosplaying only, not sewing too) has been something I have practiced for years (since about 1999-2000), and it is just amazing to even look back on older costumes and see how I have improved in my own abilities. Being able do that for oneself, to see their own growth, is something that should bring satisfaction to anyone. It really goes beyond cosplay.
Remmy:
I enjoy cosplaying because it gives me a chance to be someone else. The sewing is a bit of a pain but it's still fun. I just like having my picture taken and all the attention that a good costume brings.

Vash: From
Trigun:
I loved the series, and the character. So, I think that is reason enough to make a costume. I chose a red bottomweight, because I felt that it is something that might have actually been used, and nowhere in the series did I see any characteristics of his outfit being shiny (leather/vinyl). All of the buttons are functional except for the last 2 rows of 6 on the bottom of the center piece. The wig took over 10 hours to make. The gun is made from model magic and spray paint, and took a good 2-3 hours. |

Wolfwood: From Trigun:
YES, HE MADE THAT SUIT HIMSELF. With that said, the original cross weighed over 100 lbs, was made out of wood, and was in the works of being able to shoot donut holes out of the bottom. When he gets the money, he will be attempting to make a more fully-functional version that also looks correct inside of the fabric casing. The suit took 5-10 hours to complete, and the original cross took over 10. He liked the character, and also wanted to match with my Vash costume. |

Moomba V2 from FFVIII:
Ironically being version two, this is how I originally wanted to do the costume. FURSUIT. I love being mascots, as I have done so as a volunteer at city events with our city mascot. Interestingly enough, I made this whole costume in under a week to match Ms Link with her Squall costume at the MFA 04. Also, it matched Rem as Laguna, which I had made all the way back for Fanime 2003. It was only the second time for wearing the costume |

Laguna, from FFVIII:
Way back when, for Fanime 2003, I had made this costume. Rem had the hair (although, technically, it was too long?), and we had both played the game. Laguna was one of my favourite characters, and Rem like the character as well. Admittedly, I just modified a blue trenchcoat/raincoat I found at Goodwill, but there was a whole lot of work involved. I dyed the pants myself (which I fear might be obvious). We have still not had the time or money to replicate the machiene gun, though, which is a bit unfortunate. |

Blue Hearts:
Artwork by Nene Thomas (creator, as well)
I had found a sticker of this drawing at Hot Topic, and loved the outfit. I knew that I wanted to make the outfit, without really knowing where it was from or who drew it. My friend sparki met the artist at Anime Expo 2004, and showed me her website. I then happily decided to work on the costume. I had recently purchased a blue butterfly pillow, which inspired me to make the costume blue instead of red. I never did have time to make the wings, and the petticoat didn't work properly, so I just wore it as is. And I hated the wig after I made it, so I just used my real hair, which I thought looked SO cute. |

Paine from FFX-2:
This is certainly one of my favourites. Even though the wig has taken quite a beating, I was rather proud of the original sculpting of it. All the metal pieces on the wrap are put in BY HAND, one at a time (not glued on, but clamped through the vinyl). I couldn't afford to make a good sword, but many people were still impressed at how it came out, despite being made from cardboard and tape ^,^; I hope to re-make this one even better when I get more money. |
|
Yukari, fashion show dress from Paradise Kiss:
When I finally saw this in the 4th manga of Paradise Kiss, I knew this had to be my so-called "end-all" costume. I figured it would be the most difficult and time consuming of all of my costumes thus far, and it was. However, it was certainly not the end. I decided to omit extra flowers and the extra hair extensions, as well as the huge poofy sleeves, since I also chose to wear this to my Senior Ball in 2004. I really wish I had a bit more time for it, but alas I did not. I do think it is time to retire it, though. |
|
George from Paradise Kiss::
Since I was to be Yukari for Senior ball, he had to be my George. We lacked the finances to get a blue wig for the cons, and we couldn't find the PERFECT hat, so we went without. The fabric I used for the jacket was just GORGEOUS, though! |
|
Nyozeka
from Alice 19th:
This costume is dedicated to the Consplayers family, for their generous bestowing of this honor upon Con Artist Cosplay. I just HAD to finish this for them, so they would have something new to post. I wish I had time to make a few more, though! I love her character, due to her wisdom and cuteness. The only thing I am sad about is not having the wig finished in time. Nevertheless, I still think the costume reads well with the hat and what I do have. |

Luck in Spades and Remmy,
I remember seeing your costumes when we first met, and your
costumes now show us that you two have improved so much over
such little time. Keep up the great work you two!
you can see more of their costumes at their website ConArtist
Cosplay.
