Convention Report for Animagic 2006
written by Master Jedi

Ani-Magic turned out to be a good, fun convention. There was plenty of action to go around, just as last year; the Convention was located at the Lancaster Best Western Antelope Valley Inn in Lancaster, Ca.

As with every convention there were some positive and negative points.

Some of the positive points included, huge convention room space , snacks and drinks, a good size dealer room with over 100 vendors, Artist alley, several video anime rooms, great educational panels, wonderful guests of Honor, good photo shoot spots, Masquerade. Pool and hot tub, the convention itself was a 24 hour con, so there was plenty of time to see and do everything and be with friends. A fun pirate Rum-Party was an official event and brought the pirates’ spirit alive and of course the convention was located at a hotel so cosplayers could easily find their places to rest.

Some of the negative points regarding the convention included, Our photo studio and location was not well advertised, many didn't even know we had one or where it was. The masquerade was not very well lit, the closing ceremony was not advertised and we or many of the staff did not know when/where it was, the security seemed to be too tight as far as badge checks.

Overall the Convention was a good success; the location was great to host the convention, the staffs for the convention were both nice and friendly. These points made Ani-Magic 2006 a good convention to attend.
