Convention Report for Anime
Central’
written
by Pikmin Link
This was our first year at
Anime Central, and it was HUGE! I knew it was big, but I didn't
know it was this big. The hotel was very interesting, I
really liked how you can just walk out of your room and
the con is right there. The only thing I really disliked
about the con/hotel was that it echoed so bad during the
night because people didn't go to sleep and I couldn't get
any sleep. It was pretty noisy, the food was also very
expensive in the restaurant. But the convention its self
was pretty good. There were a lot of attendees and many
great costumes.
It was a long walk to the
convention center, but it wasn't that bad. The
dealers room was huge but nicely spread out so walking
through the crowd was no problem and they nicely separated
the artists from the dealers.
The masquerade ball wasn't very big, but the attendees did
seem to have fun. I only wished they would have played
actual ball room music. Perhaps next year.
The masquerade was pretty big. There were a ton of
entries. They separated the walk-ons from the skits, so
that was nice. The only problem I heard was the masquerade
staff was being very rude. There was a separate disabled
seating area, and they rejected a disabled press member
from sitting there because he was press. I think that was
very unfair, since what I heard after is that there were
people filming the contest and there were also children
sitting there. So basically the disabled seating area was
not used by members who were disabled, and one of them was
told to go sit else where. Thats DISCRIMINATION and RUDE
and no convention staff should treat their attendies like
that.
But overall I really liked the location. We met a lot of
great cosplayers, and made new friends. The hotel location
was nice and easy to find. The hotel was also very big and
there were great photo locations. We are not sure if we
will be able to attend anime central again in the future,
but it was very nice to finally get a chance to go to one.
