Convention
Report for Comic Con 2006
written by Master Jedi
Comic-Con turned out to be a
HUGE convention as always. The convention seems to grow by
leaps and bounds each year. There was allot going on
everywhere as this is a Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Anime and
anything goes convention. Just as last year, the
convention was located at San Diego Convention Center
which is a great location to host the event in downtown
San Diego surrounded by Hotels all around.
As
with every convention we attend we found allot of positive
points including a Huge Exhibit hall, gaming tables, art
show, celebrity and special guests including Stan Lee, Lou
Ferrigno, Marc Singer and many others a video anime room,
preview of Ghost Rider and Spiderman 3, A schedule of all
the events and locations was conveniently printed out by
the convention in a booklet, which really helped the fans
find what they were looking for. Autograph area where
Walter Koenig, Ray Bradbury, Nichelle Nichols just to name
a few were on hand. There were several exclusive Comic-Con
collectables, Portfolio
Review where companies can interview you for a job in the
industry.
The
negative points included long lines. Lines were long and
everywhere, the parking garage underneath the convention
center was already packed and closed by 8am. I had heard
that lines were so long that the Fire Marshall ordered the
con to stop admitting anymore fans on Sat. due to the size
of the crowds which were also huge. A personal
disappointment for me was that there was no Star Wars
Pavilion and no Lucas Arts. The parking lot for the hotel
we stayed at was already packed full by the time we had
gotten back so we had to park a block away on the street.
It was also hot and muggy the whole time for the con.
Overall
the Convention was a great success, the location was
excellent to host the convention, and the staffs for the
convention were both nice and friendly. These points made
Comic-Con 2006 a great convention to attend.
