Convention Report for FanimeCon 06’
written by Master Jedi

Fanime turned out to be a great convention. There was plenty of action to go around, being that this is an Anime, Fantasy, or anything goes kind of con. Just as last year, the Convention was located at the San Jose Convention Center, with the Hilton and The Marriot on both sides of the convention center.  There were also several other hotels near by so the tired cosplayer can get some seep in their rooms.

As with every convention there were some positive and negative points.

Some of the positive points included, huge convention room space , a place for registered fans to get snacks or drinks, Huge Exhibit Hall, a Huge game room with gaming tables, a large dealer room with over 100 vendors, Artist alley, several 24 hour video anime rooms, panels, Guests of Honor, Great surrounding locations and photo spots, Masquerade. The convention itself was a 24 hour con, so there was plenty of time to see and do everything and be with friends. The security was good, especially during the masquerade where guards were seeing who was misbehaving.

Some of the negative points regarding the convention included, some events, and panels overlapped each other, The food was expensive, had to walk a couple of blocks for less expensive food. The judging for the masquerade took a long time. The schedule for events and cosplay gatherings was hard to find.

Overall the Convention was a great success; the location was excellent to host the convention, the staffs for the convention were both nice and friendly. These points made Fanime 2006 a great convention to attend.
