Sac Anime this year had a lot of problems. But one of the biggest problems was the security. There were a lot of events but they weren't very organized. No one knew what was going on, and where everyone was, which called a lot of the staff members to be stressed out.

Some of the masquerade contest rules were really outrageous, especially the college rule. If a cosplayer graduated from college they are considered a professional cosplayer and may not enter. This has nothing to do with cosplay. Masquerade was also pushed back a few hours and was held on Sunday. Judging was very confusing and cosplay judges should be people who know what goes on and how to make an award winning cosplay. However, the contest was nice and short.

This con also did not feel very family friendly especially during the speeches and some of the skits.
It was also very hot throughout the hotel and drinks were very expensive. But they placed water fountains around the convention, but we only noticed 3 of them. There were also some really expensive dealers.

The concert was held outside at the garden and pool area, and it was very loud. I don't know why it couldn't be in a room.

After the masquerade the Sac Anime chief of security, Rick, yelled at the attendees to get out of the hotel and also told everyone there that their parents are waiting for them in the parking lot. He also shoved an attendee out the doors, which is also a crime. I wouldn't be surprised if the girls parents would press charges. Many guests as well as ourselves were threatened to have to police called on us if we do not leave the area. Convention security placed themselves at the entrance of the hotel to tell everyone to walk away when entering the lobby, and they questioned your business at the hotel if you wanted to go toward the lobby desk.
I feel that anyone who acts this way towards their paid guests should not be working at the convention. Many attendees were upset for buying a badge then being treated very badly. This made many not even care to return next year. I don't blame them. It was very offensive to us and many others.

Where were the closing ceremonies?

The only positive points of this convention was the garden which was great for photos and sometimes the event was enjoyable and parking wasn't bad. But overall we are very disappointed at how the unorganized the programming at this convention was handled.
