Convention Report for WonderCon 08
written by Master Jedi

Wonder con had again come to San Francisco to celebrate its 22nd year. This year it was hosted at the Moscone Center South in downtown San Francisco. Wonder con continues to grow from year to year. 2007 saw well over 20,000 attendees and I’m sure that this year was even more. Wonder con first started off as a comic book convention, but later took off into other forms of entertainment such as movies, television and even anime.

As mentioned Wonder con has again grown more and more, the dealers hall and exhibit halls had more vendors in it than previous years, which is why, in my opinion the venue had to move to the Moscone South center. There were so many people here attending the convention as just as many more in costume dressing up as their favorite character from wherever. I myself was dressed as the Doctor from the British hit TV show Dr. Who and I had my life sized Dalek there with me, so I really had no room to move around as I myself was stopped every few feet for a picture.

WonderCon is a three day con. Friday,  Saturday and Sunday with the masquerade being on Saturday night, witch was put on at 8:30 pm and was packed with over 2000 people in the audience from what I was told. There were over 24 entries, including myself and it proved to be a great hit as usual.
Guests of honor were also called to Wonder Con  to sign and pose for the attendees, some of the guests included comic book and cartoon artists as well as show and movie stars such as Lou Ferrigno, Richard Hatch, Peter Mayhey and Chase Masterson just to name off a few.

The convention didn’t really have any negative points that I could think of, aside the usual negatives of a con, such as high priced foods and hard to find hotels in the area.

Overall the convention was great fun and a success, a great way to start off the new convention year.
